Everything flows
When I was asked to share my thoughts on my position as a dance dramaturge, I suddenly remembered my teacher ancient languages who, in my third year of high school, quoted the philosopher Heraclitus “panta rhei”.
Everything flows. With this metaphor in mind I invite you to join me in my imagination.
Imagine the dance dramaturge as the flow. The flow meets barriers, like stones, during the journey. It has to form itself around these obstacles, embrace them. By touching the stone from different directions, participating in a form of dialogue, a certain understanding between stone and flow takes place. The stone changes the flow, but in time, the flow changes the stone likewise.
Now imagine the dance dramaturge as a drop of water in the river. One drop flies up and catches the light. A whole spectrum of colours is the result. As a dramaturge, you have to use different colours to communicate and be able to put them all together again for a complete image. For me these different colours are the multiple intelligences, as differentiated by sociologist Howard Gardner.
BIT functions as a watermill placed in the flow. It generates energy and shakes all the drops into awareness.
As a dance dramaturge, I would like to start a dialogue with a dance maker, while pushing myself to be creative with the observations or material that I gather. I wish to use different ways of communication to generate a more useful discourse for the benefit of the created work.

hallo Lisette,
ik was eigenlijk op zoek naar jouw email adres vanwege de uitgifte van mijn boek, zie ik toch ineens een mooi stuk van jouw hand, in het Engels ook nog! Goed, hoor.
tot zondag,
Nettie.
